On April 15th, the Anemia Working Group Portugal hosted a media roundtable in Lisbon (Portugal) to present the major findings of the EMPIRE epidemiological study.
The data of this pioneer study, collected directly from the Continental Portuguese population, revealed alarming data concerning anaemia and its prevalence. Journalists from a number of Portuguese media outlets, ranging from medical to generalist as well as news agents were invited to the event. The three investigators who conducted the study, Dr Dialina Brilhante, Dr António Robalo Nunes and Prof Cândida Fonseca (principal investigator), presented an overview of the results.
